Margery Mayer Voutsas, widely acclaimed for her portrayal the most famous contralto roles in opera, including Carmen and Amneris, passed away in California on May 12, 2014. A Memorial Service was held in her honor on September 13, 2014 in Carmel, CA where she had lived for more than 30 years in retirement.
