US & CANADA: Coast to Coast Carmen

Margery Mayer toured with San Carlo Opera Company from February to May 1943 and from October 1944 to May 1945

It should be noted that there were 10 other operas in the repertoire and a large contingent of talented singers employed on each of these tours.  While there limited information on the exact dates and counts of the other operas, it seems that Carmen with 34 performances that year alone was one of the most popular headliners and sure to be performed at each stop of the main company. By the time the troupe had reached San Francisco, Miss Mayer’s reputation was proceeding her as evidenced by several stellar reviews, including the excerpt from one to the right.
